When you were child, you always had a coach. Whether it was with sports, a tutor for school, a piano teacher, you always had someone there encouraging you and helping you improve along the way. Why is it as adults, we seem to get away from this? Why do we think we do need one anymore?Roger Alcantara
The journey of self-improvement is not one that you are going to go through alone. You will need help along the way. Having a personal trainer is a really good example of this. If you have ever been on an exercise program before, you know all of the things that you should be doing. You know how many times you should be going to the gym, how long you should be exercising for, and what exercises you should be doing.
The problem is that we don’t always do it.
This is where a coach can come into play. A coach can help you with the following things:
Hold you accountable. If someone is not there to hold you accountable for getting your workout in for the day, it is easy to say “I will just do it tomorrow.” We all know how that goes. Tomorrow becomes the next and so on. A coach can make sure that stay on task and are getting things done.
Encourage you along the way. A lot of times it is hard for us to see the improvement we are making along the way. We might want to just give up. A coach can provide that support and make it easier to keep going.
Tell you the things you need to hear, but might not want to. Sometimes we think we are better than we actually are or are further along in the process than we really are. There are times we need to hear this to help us re-focus on the task at hand. This will also help us from falling into a false sense of security.
Push you. A coach can really help push you outside of your comfort zone. If you are working your plan by yourself, it is easy to become complacent with the results you are having or where you are currently at in in the process.
Whether it is a business coach, a life coach, or a personal trainer, all of these can help you achieve your goals and push beyond where you think you can go.
